Yes, possibly or maybe no!
I just take it. Would soon let them know if there was a problem.
If a delivery asks me to sign that the article is undamaged, I always add that the package is undamaged, item as yet unchecked.
I don't understand your question.
Reading between the lines if Ivor doesn't mind.

when a delivery company delivers your package are you expected to check it for damage in front of the driver or take it on trust that it is it ok (ie undamaged)
Sign for it "UNCHECKED"

thats what i mean
Glad I got you right, then TWR and I agree - at the door all you are really doing is signing for delivery, if it mentions checking the product before signing, then add a note to signature or see if the driver will wait while you check (unlikely)
If it's a little package, I just take it usually - but if it's something bigger and possibly breakable, I sign for it and add "unexamined".
I used to pick up in mydriving days Mam, each & every time I signed " Unchecked" there is no-way you can sign for product without fully checked, the drivers do not have the time to wait.
Which is why I added that it is unlikely, as stated far easier to simply sign for delivery unchecked/unexamined - I think we are all agreeing.

One delivery I got was a cooker and when I wrote that on the delivery note, the driver told me I had now accepted the item - rubbish as it had not been unpacked or wired in.
