Hi, there! I am seeking some help with this one...they have changed it to a symmetrical puzzle and I do not have a clue what to do! I have already got 1 and 15 Across ( The Phantom Of The Opera House ) and 1 Down ( The Tempest ). I do not have 20 Down.
But I have many of the other Across:
Checkmate, beheader, Thor, Cran, Esperance, Scuba, Useless, Suspend,
And a few of the Down: Inept, Gloominess...
Where and how to place them on the grid? Some help will be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks!
Yes, I've got these, but seem to have messed up a few which I cannot place...I must be missing something...Thanks for your help again!
ACROSS: *Friend is given a shilling and is victorious in chess game - MATE?
DOWN: *If right about this, one could have quite a turn - NEUTRON?
*Body odor, as holy man comes up and talks excitedly - SWAMI?
I am most grateful to you, mamyalynne and Lie-in King, for the invaluable help you have patiently offered me. I have certainly learned a lot from it and feel I am better now at this form of puzzle. So much of it, in hindsight, is so straightforward! I am now done except for 25d and this in spite of the scots dictionary. Indulge me, once more, with some kind of hint and take me out of my misery!
Sorry, that may be a tad misleading - although the same word, the 2nd definition is a verb, but you need the noun for the dictionary to provide the more obscure meaning.
