Among my post today was an envelope which had a recorded delivery sticker with 'Signed for' on it.
It was sent this way because there was something of value inside.
Is the Postman supposed to push this through my letterbox when there was nobody here to actually sign for it?

I was a postie for over 40 years so as you can imagine i have seen a lot of things re delivery of mail, as in all walks of life their are bad apples in every job my expiriences of posties is good but some seem to have thier own way of doing things. Re folding of mail most postmen do not like to take mail back because it was to wide to go in letter box, so my trick was to gently twist it into a tube shape push it through then it would spring back into shape when through box. I knew a postie who put packet in dustbin put a note through door to say this, when house owner opened bin the bin men had been and emptied said bin, Another time postie tried to deliver packet no answer so saw a small window open above main window pushed it through window packet fell on valuable ornaments and smashed them, needless to say they did not last long. Ito know of posties who would buy morning paper and drop it in on an elderly customer and see if they are ok so there are some good lads and girls out there.
