I think SOME folk might do. I know a woman who has no children, but treats her two small dogs as if they were. She calls herself "mummykins" to them, and they're spoilt to bits. Having said that, millions of families own pets which they love - and rightly so.
Yes, but people can feel love for their pets, can't they? Ours are like part of the family. If one becomes ill, we feel as concerned as if it was a child in that state.
