parked my car in shopping carpark for the day, came back battery flat as a doornail,green flag man says it was my car alarm which he disconnected and gave me a jump-start,whats wrong any ideas? vauxhall astra

It can't be much of an alarm, though, if the man was able to get at it and disconnect it - or did he disconnect it after you came back? That's not quite clear in your question. Was it built into the car as part of the original build, or was it a cheap add-on fitted by someone else? If it's a Vauxhall original, a dealer should be able to fix or replace it. If it's the other, remove and throw away, or at least leave it disconnected.
Rayman - A friend of mine had the same problem with his GSi after someone nudged the back end. Spent weeks ripping his car apart because the battery went flat all the time and then found out that the light in the boot wasnt turning off when the boot was shut. Removed the bulb - problem solved. Give it a whirl!!
Also if its a crappy old alarm on the car get shot because it'll give you nowt but grief and not put off any tea leaves........
