I was asked if I remembered calling the usherettes with their trays of ice cream that very rude term at my local fleapit.

I never heard them called that and wondered if anyone else did.

I do remember the usherettes at the Saturday morning crush (a children only showing, they must have been quite mad) could be a bit fearsome but we were little terrors

Nope, never heard it, mind you I was probably too young to go to the local flea pit. I went to a cinema with my mum to watch the news when we were in town shopping.

Must be a local colloquialism. Never heard it used. We called her the choc ice lady.

Ours didn't have choc ices, just little tubs of ice cream with a wooden spoon.
