Apparently needed when travelling to the EU some time soon. How do we go about this? Before travelling or at the airport?? Is envisage even longer queues …..
If it's anything like the US or Middle East, your prints and photo are taken the first time you go there and the details are kept on their database. Next time you go there you are printed and photographed again and your details are matched. Always hate putting my fingers on the horrible screens where everyone else's greasy mitts have been.
It's anticipated that travellers will have to use self-service kiosks when they arrive at airports within the EU. (Ferry passengers, and those using Channel Tunnel services, will go through the procedure at their point of departure). It will only need to be done once every three years though.
Sounds like another reason not to grace other nations with my tourist spending money. Pity all don't feel the same as things would then change soon enough. Any nation that insists on treating me as a criminal, and demands fingerprints and such data, can go stick their nation where the sun doesn't shine.
If you are travelling north, the best way to avoid all this is to travel across by rubber dinghy, you'll be given a warm welcome, food & accomodation, spending money & no passports or fingerprints are required.
