Amongst the junk mail which dropped on my doormat today was one which caught my eye as worth thinking about. It consists of using a local help service for senior folk, and lists such provisions as cleaning, laundry, shopping, meal preparation, welfare checks, dog walking and companionship. £16 per hour. The bit which amused me was the footnote “We do not offer personal care” which got me mischievously wondering if personal care was a euphemism for the sort of thing Miss Whiplash provided. (Before you rush to the keyboard, I do realise what it really means).
Any other euphemisms amused you lately ? Let’s hear some and have a real fun thread for a change.
A friend of mine made a small fortune selling brown paper bags at the local car boot sale- "Adult Magazines" £ 5 a pack. They were full of his massive collection of Gardeners World. Imagine the disappointment ;)
