We all know that to be a racist is criminal but what about ageism, is that also a crime ?
As I've yet to hear of anyone brought to task over it, or is ageism simply 'disrespect ' ?
Arguments? I've put something up for discussion lol. You're just offensive. Aint you a moderator? Maybe you should keep the thread on topic instead of salty, sly comments about other members as if they're not here.
In employment law, its illegal to discriminate based on age. I think it may also be illegal to refuse to serve someone in a shop based on their age. I have an impression that older people are more likely to be the victims of con tricks, muggings and burglaries because they are seen as an an easy mark but haven't looked at the statistics...so the comment that people aren't attacked simply because they are old may not be true.
Discrimination can be good or bad. I discriminate when needing dental work and refuse the builder's offer of letting them use their drill on me, but allow the dentist to work on my teeth. This is a good thing.
Ageing, as with other isms, does not rely solely on discrimination but on unfair unjustifiable discrimination.
