My sons G/F is pregnant.
Her Uncle is a pastor.
He's just stated that the baby (my grandson) is a product of sin.
You just got to love these people of faith havnt you?
During an impassioned sermon about death and final judgement, the pastor said forcefully, "Each member of this church is going to die and face judgement." Glancing down at the front pew, he noticed a man with a big smile on his face - the man was called Nailit. The minister repeated his point louder. "Each member of this church is going to die and face...
I would imagine we could all justify it. Particularly with social animals, like us, we wouldn't have survived long without mutual co-operation and care.
How are you justifying it? "Good" doesn't always win either... so if it's a Plan, it is an ineffective one.
I think its not a matter of whether they have a faith or not. I think that nasty people will be nasty and will find something to hang their nastiness on. I hope that when they go to their god she tells them what she thinks of them for blaming their nastiness on her.
Yes. Goodness promotes our wellbeing, and love is the most powerful force of all, overcoming all to bring us what we desire, acceptance, joy and happiness.
Its opposite, evil, is bent on the destruction of these, as well as us.
It is possible to lad a "good" life, treating others fairly, as you expect to be treated, obeying laws, without having religion, particularly the state approved religion. Being a believer, and I assume you are generally looking at the world from a Christian perspective, does not necessarily make you a better, more law-abiding, better behaved or more moral person.
If love is the most powerful force of all, why do you hate people who don't worship the same God as you and even those who do but worship him in a different way? Throughout history there have been many cases of two people who love each other and commit murder to be together, what triumphed, love or evil?
Last time I went to sermon , the vicar or whatever he was called, was eating prawns in the pulpit. I asked him what he was doing , he said he was a Prawn again Christian.
Vulcan I don't hate anybody.
As to your example, how would that couple ever be truly happy harbouring such guilt?
They would be evil to begin with, and by definition unbelievers.
You're insulting non-believers .... again .... this time by claiming that anyone who commits evil deeds, 'by definition', can't be a believer. What is wrong with you?
