I fly a fair bit - correction - I did fly a fair bit before the world went mad, usually at least half a dozen times a year, and I cannot remember the last time my passport wasn't scanned at each end, whether it be by somebody in a booth or self-service, so I think TTT is right.
The long term efficacy of the vaccines isn't known, so you could have a situation where, say in 8/9 months time people start to be vulnerable again and Passports would be a false indicator of being safe.
Pubs don’t want it
Hardly surprisingly.
They wanted some sort of system before but we’re tile they had to close having spent a fortune on measures.
So individual pubs may wish to or indeed have to do some sort of check but a blanket compulsory system won’t fly
ZM: "They could be too easily faked. " - how, they'll be QR codes linked to medical records. Ok anything can be faked but when we catch them we prosecute as with fakes of all sorts now.
"The long term efficacy of the vaccines isn't known, so you could have a situation where, say in 8/9 months time people start to be vulnerable again and Passports would be a false indicator of being safe. " - err no, the vaccinations records will be replaced with the new ones as they go. We fully expect annual vaccination, the medical records will be updated accordingly and propagated down through the system.
A woman caller on Jeremy Vine this afternoon said she wouldn't go in a pub who'd been living it up, whilst she had obeyed the rules. It would make her feel unsafe. She would travel to a pub using a passport system so she knew she was safe.
A second woman said she supported the system because she had lost a year of her life and wanted to feel safe when she went out. I was almost screaming at the radio that we've all lost a year of our lives and this virus will never go away.
nothing is fake proof but they'll make it very difficult to fake. Eg they could make you define a PIN on your NHS record and then have to enter it when you flash the QR code. Possibly even finger print scanning.
