If anyone has this book I would be grateful for help with some of the exercises on pages 12 and 13.

Can you describe what they are? I have Eric Taylor AB Theory of Music but if you describe it I might be able to help?

Thank you Lilith 1980.
I need help with exercise 1 on page 12, it concerns Ties.
Does your book have that on page 12 also.
Not's it about scales so must be a different book :-(

Is there any way of describing what you need help with and the question?

Again my thanks.
The time signature is 4/4 - between the first bar lines it is: 2 crotchets and a minim, between the second two bar lines it is the same.I have to add a Tie and add up the total number of beats made by the Tie.
3/4 - a minim and two crotchets joined by the bar across the top of them. A crotchet and a minim in the second - again I have to add a Tie and add the number of beats made by the Tie.
For the 4/4 time sig, if I have visualised it correctly, I imagine the tie will start from the minim in the first bar and go to the crotchet of the second bar, thereby lasting for 3 beats.

For the 3/4 time sig, as a minim is two beats, the 'two crotchets joined by the bar' must in fact be quavers as they are half a beat each and this would therefore add up to three beats in the bar. So the tie would go from the second quaver, to the crotchet in the second bar, which would equal one and a half beats.

Hope this helps :-)
Sorry, for the 4/4 time sig the tie goes to the first in the second bar crotchet, just in case i didnt make that clear.
sorry! the first crotchet in the second bar!!! my cat is standing on my keyboard lol
