There is a compilation album advertised on the box at the moment (possibly only SKY) and there is a song from about the sixties sung by a woman and the only words I know are someone... 'underneath the Tallahassee Bridge'... Cool sounding song. Does anyone know what it is called please...?
Thanks in advance
Ian
Ode to Billy Joe sung by the American female vocalist Bobbie Gentry is a classic of the 60s. The record entered the charts in the Uk on Sept 13th 1967, reached the No 13 spot, and stayed in the charts for 11 weeks. All about when Billy Joe McAllister jumped off the Tallahatchee bridge. A beautiful but sad song.
Don't know about the compilation album but the record that you're referring to can only be Ode to Billy Joe. There is only one decent version of this and it's the original by Bobbie Gentry who wrote the words and music she sung about Billy Joe McAllister jumping off the Tallahatchee (correctly spelt Tallahatchie) bridge Mississippi.
Many Thanks....
Bobby Gentry is indeed the version in the advert. Have managed to track it down. Thanks again for all your help. I am intrigued by the Sinead O'Conner version though I might have to try and track that one down too.
Many Thanks
