Zacs-Master - "... The people watching it [are the biggest idiots]..."
I can't understand the derision that Big Brother gets sometimes. It seems as if it's de rigueur to denigrate both the programme and the people that watch it. I can't understand this.
I have no problem with people who don't like it. The choice is theirs to make. I personally dislike Eastenders and Coronation Street with a passion. I think these programmes are depressing and often poorly performed, shot and scripted. However, I am well aware that millions of people love these shows and I don't think any less of those who chose to watch them.
When all said and done, Big Brother is a slice of entertainment. And from a social and psychological aspect, it's a fascinating one. How do different people cope with stress? How do they 'play' the social game (that we all play daily) of interaction with disparate groups and individuals? How far can individuals be pushed before they break down or explode? For me, it's a deliciously fascinating look into the psychology of self and because every series features different people, the interactions and reactions are always unique.
If you don't like it - fine. But don't insult other people's intelligence because they do.
