In fact if my staff attended work when they were signed off because they were feeling better then I would send them home again. I believe there are insurance implications if an employee returns to work when signed off as they would not covered. Check with your companies HR dept as your manager is being unreasonable or does not understand your situation..
There is no way you can go back. I snapped a tendon in my knee last year and was off for eight weeks. Although I spend my day at a desk or in a committee room, the insurers would not cover me for further injury caused by me falling down stair or something like that so I was forbidden to go back until the doctor said so. Your doctor knows and has signed you off. Your boss is not medically qualified so has to keep out of it.
One of my friends had this happen to them - he went back to his doctor and explained the situaiton, and the doctor sent a letter to his boss telling him unless he's medically qualified and insured for my mate to do his job while fit, to stay out of it. Maybe thats an angle you could take??
