During WWII notes with a denomination of 100 and over were discontinued and withdrawn to combat counterfeiting.
The 1000 was withdrawn 30th April 1945 however it was introduced in 1725.
As time progressed smaller denomination notes were introduced for circulation e.g. 10 in 1759 and 5 in 1793. This is what led me to thinking (erroneously) that it would be 100 because of the later date (1752) which I now put down to a typo.
