I Feel Trapped In My Eating Disorder. How Do I Get Out Of It?
9 Answers
I am trapped. I've stopped eating for only four days and I've already lost 13 pounds. 8 more and I'll be underweight for my height and age (14). Now, I don't know what to do. I don't feel hungry and when I force myself to eat, I feel like I'm going to throw up. I can't give myself any courage to talk to anyone about it because they won't understand me. They didn't when I told them about my depression, self harm, and suicide attempts. Now, I don't know how to get out of this trapped feeling. Why did I think not eating would solve my problems?
By the way, before people tell me that I never had to worry about my weight to begin with, that's not why I began anorexia. I did it to punish myself, as a way of self harm.
So how do I get out of this tricky situation? And don't just tell me eat a sandwich. I want serious advice.
Thanks!

However, in the first instance, you might prefer to speak to someone over the phone. Since you've posted at 5.23am (UK time) it's not clear whether you're here in the UK or possibly in the USA. If you're in the UK, phone ABC:

Remember this - it is not only the non-eater who is affected by anorexia. I know a girl who used her anorexia as blackmail against her parents along the lines of "If I eat that meal, you've got to buy me a new T-shirt/a ticket to a concert . . . " or whatever she wanted. In the end the parents were so desperately stressed and distressed with the girl, her illness and her demands, that her father had a heart-attack and died. From then on, I always believed she had actually caused her father's death. He was a colleague of mine, by the way, so I watched his own suffering as the girl got thinner and thinner.
Do you want to bring about a situation like that ?

I don't see it as very constructive to induce guilt in the OP...it does not address her query.
Sorry I cannot help as I have no experience of eating disorders. But please.do speak to a medical professional or someone at your school if you cannot speak to your parents. They have seen this before, and will understand what is happening to you.
