I once went out with a rather plain-looking girl who informed me that beauty was only skin-deep.
"You must be very thick-skinned", replied I. End of brief romance.
as the saying goes beauty is indeed in the eye of the beholder, what i find attractive others may not, i think there has toi be a certain level of attractiveness but some people find people attractive after being friends for a long period of time and a relasionship develops after.
looks do matter, but its not the only aspect of attractiveness. people have differing tastes in what they regard as attractive, someone can be very asthetically pleasing on the eye but may have an unattractive personality similarly someone can be not seen as "stunning" but can have an engaging personality that can make them a more attractive person.
confidence and feeling happy in your own skin is a more attractive trait than "killer abs" imo
Attraction matters, but what I would deem good looking isn't necessarily what someone else does. Looks are important but taste is subjective which is a pretty good thing since I think I'm an acquired taste!
