Poor thing! Black Spot has just come back from the vet with a head collar, not impressed. He was very off colour and clearly in pain this morning, and the vet diagnosed a huge abscess on his bottom, which hurt his leg and his tail as well as other bits. Nurse Boxy is now armed with rubber gloves and a scary array of medication and sluices for him.... I may be some time :-(
Apparently not, wolfy, although the abscess was impacting on them. The vet thought it was more likely to be a cat-bite which (as you know) goes really bad after only a couple of days :-(
Knowing Black Spot, I'd be surprised to find him running away from anything, I'd assumed it was one of his normal rolling fights rather than a parting gesture.... We thought it was a groin injury, you could see a red swelling on the inside of his leg. Being a very hairy cat, I don't often look at his bum.....
Baldric is so right. Dogs are much more reasonable than cats. I am sure that our kitty friends really are planning on taking over the world - by driving all the humans insane.
I hope that Black Spot's bum heals up. Have you to give him tablets? It is always dangerous to attempt that.
Princess Merlin usually goes for Frankie's face and, as you can see, he has a mainly white face, so it is easy to see his wounds. He's a wimp.
Day 2, Part I safely delivered..... he's cheesed off being cooped up in the spare bedroom but he's not allowed out....
I have to give him 2 lots of different antibiotic tablets at different times, and 2 painkillers ditto. Plus (bleah) sluice the wound with saline twice daily.
He went back to the vets for a checkup and the vet was very pleased with the way we've been able to keep his wound clean. Not healing yet but going in the right direction. Thank you for asking!
He has to keep in isolation at least until we go again on Thursday - it's the only way we can keep him indoors - and he's certainly missing company so we have to remember to keep going upstairs to entertain him.....
He is - just been up to see him. The wound is very clean but the dead skin is all starting to abrade and the underneath new skin showing through, so it's a question of keeping it clean.... I've just given him a crab stick, that cheered him up!
All healing well, has to stay in confinement for another 10 days until he has his stitches out. It's such a shame he's missing all this good weather, but we daren't risk infection of the wound. All looking good, though!
