Has Anyone Knowingly Eaten Horsemeat?
I think I may have done once. The portion was bigger than usual and the meat had a slightly sweet taste.

There are big regional differences - no birds other than duck or geese north of the Yangste - anything that flies to the south.... Lamb - rarely seen in the south but plenty in the north -and then there's the odd stuff, hedgehogs, snakes, anteaters, armadillos etc that have resulted me being on the WWF terrorist list.

You can still buy horsemeat in the UK
I suspect they could - it's just that it wasn't cleared for human consumption. I think that it's not legal to sell horse for human consumption in the UK.
Back in the day my wife worked in a grocer's shop (very much Open all Hours, even down to the meanness of the owner). Some recent immigrants used to buy Kit-E-Kat for their packed-lunch sandwiches.
